Colorado Privacy Notice

Information You Send

If a search box is used, the name or other query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that search tool. Colorado Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its receipt and use of the query.

If you send a message through a contact method made available with the service, the message and any reply details are kept so the request can be answered. Those details are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Technical Details and Cookies

Like most sites, a page request can produce basic technical data. Depending on the hosting and service tools in use, that may include:

  • IP address and general network data
  • Browser name, version, and language
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • The referring site, when available
  • Request date and time stamps

Cookies may be used to understand how visitors use the site and to support site functions or advertising. Browser settings can block or clear cookies. Some features may work differently when cookies are disabled.

How Information Is Used

Data is used for ordinary service and maintenance tasks, including:

  • Keeping pages available and improving load time
  • Routing a search request to its provider
  • Learning which information readers use
  • Finding and fixing technical faults
  • Showing advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests

The site does not use a search query to make an official custody decision. Only the government agency or court that holds a record can confirm its status.

Outside Sites and Record Laws

Links can lead to county sheriff pages, court systems, corrections portals, archives, federal locators, news outlets, or third-party search tools. Once you leave this domain, the other organization’s privacy policy and data practices apply. Advertising partners may also collect activity across sites through their own systems; this site does not control that tracking.

Colorado’s Criminal Justice Records Act, C.R.S. §§ 24-72-301 through 24-72-309, governs access to criminal justice records. The broader Colorado Open Records Act applies to public records generally. Those access laws do not make this site the custodian of an agency record.

Who May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by Colorado Busted Mugshots. Information may be processed by the following service groups:

  • Search partners that receive a query
  • Analytics services that measure site use
  • Advertising networks that deliver ads
  • Law enforcement or government offices acting under a valid legal order

Each outside provider may keep and use data under its own terms. Review those terms before entering information into an external search form.

Security and Data Limits

Reasonable administrative and technical steps are used to protect information under the site’s control. No internet-connected system can be promised fully secure, and no method of storage or transfer can guarantee that a breach will never happen. Avoid sending sensitive details that are not needed to answer a records question.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a minor has sent information, a parent or guardian may request its deletion through the available contact method.

Your Data Choices

Depending on what information is held and applicable law, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal information held by the site
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Request deletion of information
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing

A search provider or advertising network may hold its own copy of information submitted to its service. Requests about that copy must go to the provider that received it. For a source record held by a Colorado agency, contact the agency directly.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised when the service or its data practices change. A new version takes effect when it is posted here. Check this page from time to time for the current wording.
